Nine months after meeting Rick, I broke my neck. I became a quadriplegic, with sight in only one eye, and suddenly had no idea what my life would become. When I came home from the hospital, Rick didn’t look at me and see my limitations. He simply asked, “Ross, what are you going to do next?”
Rick hired me to work with his CEOs and, in his words, “go do good in the world.” His belief in me gave my life renewed purpose. Since then, my organizations have worked with 65 ministries across 120 countries, and I’ve had the opportunity to mentor entrepreneurs in both the nonprofit and private sectors. Rick and several friends even purchased an exoskeleton that allowed me to walk again.
Without Rick’s generosity and unconditional love, I genuinely believe I would have died in a nursing home 10 or 15 years ago. Instead, he helped me build a life that has allowed me to serve others. I’m only one of thousands of people Rick has impacted—but for me, his kindness meant everything.
